Hawkinge SpitfireS Club The club is for the over 55's and we meet once a month on the second Wednesday in Hawkinge Village Hall. We have a variety of speaker's, music afternoons and outings during the year. Visitors are welcome and the cost is £3.00 including tea and biscuits. Start time is 2,30pm. aCriSe feStiVal Of flOwerS You are invited to visit this traditional event set in the lovely North Downs countryside on Saturday 3rd and Sunday 4th august from 10.00am until 5.00pm each day. As well as the beautifully decorated 12th Century church, there will be a range of stalls including produce, cakes, plants, handicraft books and toys; games such as coconut shy and human fruit machine; pony rides along the church drive; photographs of local history and display of church records. Refreshments will be available in the marque with ploughmen’s lunches and afternoon teas. Parking and entry are free. From Folkestone take the A260 through Hawkinge to Densole; just before the Blackhorse Pub turn left and follow the road to Acrise.

Starring Robert Redford, Casey Affleck and Sissy Spacek The film is based on the true story of Forrest Tucker (Robert Redford), from his audacious escape from San Quentin at the age of 70 to an un- precedented string of heists that confounded authorities and enchanted the public. Wrapped up in the pursuit are detective John Hunt (Casey Affleck) who becomes captivated with Forrest’s commitment to his craft and a woman (Sissy Spacek), who loves him in spite of his chosen profession. Hawkinge and District gardeners Society are holding their Annual Summer Show on Sunday 21st July, Hawkinge Village Hall. Doors open 2.30pm. There is a children’s section,to make a Summer Holiday collage. The members meet every first Wednesday of the month at 7.30pm. We have speakers during the year and also have a variety of events.
