Medicine Hat News is proud to publish this very special section of advertisements created by students from Medicine Hat & Area. In an effort to put dollars back into our local school districts, we were happy to offer students in Kindergarten to grade 6 this opportunity to create their own personal, artistic advertisement for Medicine Hat & area businesses. The students were free to create an ad for any business of their choice.


We support teachers and principals in encouraging students to embrace creativity, while perhaps for the first time, introducing them to the world of newspapers and design.


When merchants purchased an ad that one of the students designed for the 3rd Annual Design-An-Ad program, $10 of every ad went back to their classroom, to be used in whatever educational manner the teachers chose.


There was a total of 201 ad submissions from kids in the Prairie Rose School Division No. 8, School District No. 76, Medicine Hat Catholic Board of Education and Girl Guides of Canada and out of those, 43 ads were purchased by businesses. We at the Medicine Hat News are proud to give back a total of $540 to the kids!


A special congratulations to Suzanne Swartz's Grade 5 Class at Medicine Hat Christian School; the class with the most submissions for 2019! Their classroom received a bonus cheque for $100. We also picked 10 random submissions out of all 201 designs and they each received a $25 Medicine Hat Mall Gift Card.


Medicine Hat News is excited to make this annual program something that the students and teachers look forward to each year! We are so proud of each and every one of the students' designs! Thank you to everyone for taking part this year!
