Drakes Broughton development named by local school

A young class of pupils are celebrating after winning a competition to name Bovis Homes’ stunning new development of two to five bedroom luxury homes.

Children, aged from four to 12, took part in the Bovis Homes competition, at St Barnabas CE First and Middle School, to name the brand-new development in Drakes Broughton. Pupils carried out extensive research into the area and into the challenges and benefits that housebuilding brings to a community, before coming up with a wide variety of names.

Following a tough judging process, Class 5AH won the challenge, naming the housebuilder’s site, on Worcester Road, Pear Tree Walk, in reference to the area’s link to the fruit.

The whole school was included in the competition and each class sent acting headteacher Stephen Booth a shortlist of names. Mr Booth said: “We were so impressed with the names our pupils came

up with and want to thank Bovis Homes for encouraging them to get so involved in this project. Many of them travel past the site on their way to and from school and we can see it from our playing fields. They are so interested in seeing it develop and to know they actively came up with the name, which is now proudly placed on signage at the development with our school’s name on it. During active workshops, which formed part of the competition, teachers taught them about the history and geography of the area and the positive impact new-build housing has, including environmental issues.”

Bovis Homes colleagues involved in the site were the judges of the competition, picking the Year 5 class as the winners, and the new signage is now proudly on display. Paul Bennison, regional marketing manager at Bovis Homes, said: “It was really lovely to meet the children and to know they can watch our development being built from the school. There were really high-quality entries to the competition and we believe Pear Tree Walk is an engaging name that paints a lovely image of what the location will become. A huge well done to class 5AH.”

Bishops Itchington house hunters hit the red carpet

House hunters attended a VIP launch event - complete with red carpet - to reserve homes at Bovis Homes’ new development in Bishops Itchington where they have a beautiful range of 2 - 5 bedroom homes.

Potential buyers, who had already registered their interest in the very impressive properties being built at Bovis Homes’ Furrowfields location in Bishop’s Itchington, enjoyed Champagne and canapes at a special event held at nearby Semele Park development in Radford Semele.

A total of 84 homes are being built at Furrowfields, and are now available for all house hunters to reserve off plan. Adrian Wood, area sales director at Bovis Homes, said: “The evening at Semele Park was fantastically well attended with great feedback from visitors. Home hunters were enquiring in droves about our Furrowfields

Bovis Homes are building one to five bedroom homes at Furrowfields, including bungalows, in line with local housing need. They are also spending more than £500,000 in the community as part of the planning agreement, in areas including healthcare, education and recreation. location, and our experienced sales team were on hand to answer any queries they had. This was followed by a great public launch at the weekend, and we are already excited about the momentum building around Furrowfields.”
