Many amazing stories have been shared, from aHarrier fighter pilot during the Falklands war oraWAAF who worked as aplotter during the Battle of Britain to aformer Senior Aircraftsman who has travelled the world with his pet ferret, Bandit. One quite touching story was told by Candida Adkins who as achild and before bed was told how to fly aSpitfire by her mother,Air Transport Auxiliary pilot Jackie Moggridge. She was told the controls of the Spitfire were very sensitive: “if you want to turn right, just think it, don’t move and you will turn”.
