WELCOME
TO YOUR FEBRUARY ISSUE OF THE CHESHIRE FARMART MAGAZINE
ANGELA BOWCOCK
I'd like to introduce myself as the proud new owner of Cheshire Farmart and can't wait to continue running this incredibly successful magazine. Many of you will know me via my local farming heritage (Yes, having grown up on a sheep farm near Macclesfield, I'm related to a good proportion of our farming readers!) As a past member of Cheshire Young Farmers, I hope that I appreciate many of the unique challenges and issues that farmers encounter, whilst understanding what a vital role a directory such as Cheshire Farmart can play in running your farm.
As one of the advertising sales reps I've had the privilege to work alongside the previous owners, David & Lorna Roper for the past 8 years. Thanks to them, Cheshire Farmart has gone from strength to strength since they took over more than 20 years ago and I look forward to continuing their legacy.
Whilst I'm keen to retain the existing style and feel of the magazine, you'll see that this month there are a couple of additional items.
Firstly the “Cheshire Farmart Community Notice Board” (Page 16). Here I'd like to promote any social, educational or agricultural type events. As an industry where working alone is prevalent, I think it's important to ensure we interact with others within the community. There will be no charge for placing a notice on this page, so please do get in touch with any event, farm walk, social meeting, or congratulatory message you would like to share. Email us at
email@cheshirefarmart.com with the subject “Notice Board” or call 01625 529900.
Secondly, just for a bit of fun, we have “The Brew Room” (Page 26). Readers often tell us they sit down with a brew to read Cheshire Farmart, whether they're looking to specifically buy something or not. So, we'd love to see what your reading environment looks like. Please send us a photo of you or your family or staff reading Cheshire Farmart. Each month one photo will be chosen for our Brew Room page and the owner sent
a “Brew Box” of tasty goodies from our sponsors at RRG Group Fleet. Put your own photo on Twitter or Facebook and tag @cheshirefarmart #BrewRoom, or email us via
email@cheshirefarmart.com
I'm passionate about keeping Cheshire Farmart growing and most importantly, free for farmers to receive. So please do support our current advertisers and ensure you mention it if you've seen their advert. I wholeheartedly believe that money spent on advertising can yield significant returns. However, I do also appreciate that in any industry you can't beat word of mouth recommendations. So, dear reader, I'd like to ask you to consider which of your agricultural suppliers, don't already advertise with us. Perhaps you deal with a local sales rep, or are aware of a new start up business which could be promoted etc. If you think Cheshire Farmart could be useful, then please do recommend us!
Finally, my aim is to have a Cheshire Farmart magazine delivered to every working farm in the Farmart region. If you know of a friend, relative or neighbour who'd benefit from receiving a copy, please get them to phone in or email their address and we'll gladly add them to the mailing list.
Regards, Angela
