Hawkinge SpitfireS Club The club is for the over 55's and we meet once a month on the second Wednesday in Hawkinge Village Hall. We have a variety of interesting speakers, music afternoons and outings during the year. Visitors are welcome and the cost is £3.00 including tea and biscuits. The next meeting is on wednesday 13th february 2019 in Hawkinge Village Hall at 2.30pm. This is our Annual General Meeting followed by a Quizz. the folkestone branch of the british Sugarcraft guild invite you to join us at St Andrews Hall, Surrenden Road Cheriton. We meet on the first Saturday of each month 1.30pm until 4pm. Come along and see what we do with all forms of sugar and all methods of working with it old and new. Learn from trained demonstrators, join in workshops and talk to our members who are beginners through to old hands. They would be pleased to share their knowledge. This month we will be having a workshop with a new look on cupcakes. March we have Wendy Windiate demonstrating Faberge eggs and they are fabulous. etCHingHill Village Hall - filM nigHt On Monday 18th february 2019, the Residents' Association will be screening “THE POST” 12 Biography/History/Drama. Starring Meryl Streep, Tom Hanks and Sarah Paulson. When an American military analyst realises the depths of the US government’s deceptions about the futility of the Vietnam War he takes action by copying top-secret documents that would become the Pentagon Papers. Later the Washington Post editor discovers the New York Times has scooped them with an explosive expose on those papers. Determined to compete, Post reporters obtain a copy of the papers but plans to publish their findings are put in jeopardy with a Federal restraining order. Now The Post‘s owner, Kay Graham, must decide whether to back down or publish and fight for the freedom of the press and in doing so join a fight that would have America’s democratic ideals in the balance Doors open at 7 pm for a 7.30 pm start.
