BIFA and the award sponsors look forward to welcoming you to the 30th Annual BIFA Freight Service Awards ceremony luncheon this month. Always a highlight of the post-Christmas calendar, the BIFA Awards celebrate the best in class of international forwarders over a total of 11 categories for individuals as well as companies. This year we welcome athlete and double Olympic Gold medallist Col Dame Kelly Holmes (MBE mil) as our host, and look forward to an inspiring speech.

For individuals there is the well-established


Young Freight Forwarder of the Year award sponsored by Virgin Atlantic Cargo. Last year it was won by Louis Perrin of Hemisphere Freight Services. Louis then went on to win the FIATA/ TT Club Young International Freight Forwarder Award in autumn 2018, a magnificent achievement and something that we hope this year’s winner will aspire to.


Apprentice of the Year Award

New for 2018 is the Apprentice of the Year Award category sponsored by Outsource Training & Development. December saw the announcement of five finalists in this brand new category, each of whom was invited to interview with the judging panel where they were able to allow their individual personalities to shine through. The five finalists are: • Paige Baldwin of TPS Global Logistics Ltd • Kyle Lawrence of Unsworth • Thomas Turner of Panalpina • Harry Underwood of Dachser • Jay Williams of Kuehne + Nagel.


Announcement of winners


The culmination of the event will see Dame Kelly joined on stage after her speech by a representative of each category sponsor to announce the winner of the award and present the trophy. The nine company categories are:
