A guideline to plan your perfect wedding day S

o now that I’ve given you some tools and planning apps to look into - where do we start the whole planning process?

Here is a guideline to plan your perfect Wedding Day.

12-18 months • Check out venues. • Decide on a date. • Book your venue as soon as you have a date set.

• Start looking at wedding dresses. • Decide on a budget • Book anyone who can’t be in two places at once (Photographer, Videographer, Hair & Make-Up Artist, Wedding Coordi- nator, Officiant, Band / DJ)

9 Months • Meet and book a florist. • Finalize guest list. • Decide on a dress. • Go for a wine & food tasting at your venue.

• Start going to bake shops to see what you want for a wedding cake/dessert.

Happily ever after starts now Peggy Venter

• Start shopping for his suit. • Start looking at bridesmaid dresses. • Start planning your engagement pictures with your photographer.

• Book hair & makeup trial. As a photographer, I usu- ally tell my clients to book their hair and makeup trial and coordinate it with their engagement pictures. Tis way you will save money by getting it done for the photos as well and you can see what it actually looks like in pictures.

6 Months • Order your wedding rings, jewellery & accessories. • Finalize, print, and send wedding invitations (Add that personal touch. I know digital is so much easier nowadays, but no one gets personalized mail anymore other than bills and statements.

• Start planning your honeymoon. • Arrange transportation (Limousine Service / Busses etc.)

• Look into guest accommodation options (Also wise to mail the options to your out of town guests with their invites).

• Go shoe shopping • Book any rental items if you don’t have a wedding planner/coordinator)

3 months • Confirm your cake order. • Buy your wedding shoes if you haven’t yet and make sure to break them in. • Finalize menus.

• Start dancing lessons if it’s something you wanted to do. • Buy wedding favours. • Get gifts for the bridal party. • Schedule dress fitting for yourself and the bridesmaids (Make a day of it - some might even combine it with a bachelorette party later in the day).

6 weeks • Start designing your seating plan • Put together a playlist for the DJ (and also a DO NOT PLAY list)

• Start writing speeches. • Create a timeline for the wedding day. • Finalize room design.

2-4 weeks • Start writing vows if you haven’t yet.

• Book a restaurant for a meal the night before the wed- ding.

• Final dress fitting. • Call any Non-RSVP guests. • Confirm your seating plan. • Make final arrangements with florist. • Book Spa & Nail Treatments

1 Week • Final speeches and vows. • Contact all vendors and confirm final details. • Collect your dress & all outfits. • Allocate “Day of” tasks to the bridal party. • Pack for the honeymoon. • Have a spray tan.

Dear Lianne: For the last few years, I have hung around with

a guy. We have both dated others and have al- ways been really good friends. I have come to re- alize that I am in love with him. He would make the best husband and father. I didn’t understand my true feelings until I felt jealous when he was dating his last girlfriend. Tey have since broken up and I need guidance on how to approach this situation. I don’t want to jeopardize our friend- ship but I would like our friendship to move to the next level. It is so strange but I would love to marry my best friend. It just feels so right but also

so odd that it took me so long to understand my true feelings. What would be the best way to deal with this? Oh, I must add that we were intimate once upon a time when we both had too much to drink. I then kind of pushed him away and reverted back to our buddy status. Please offer me some guidance on this situ-

ation. Rose-Marie

Dear Rose-Marie: I think it is wonderful that you have fallen

in love with your best friend providing he feels the same way. You likely have matured during your friendship and understand what is truly important in a partner. Tere are a few ways you can approach this. You could cut this article out, show it to him and wait for a reaction. Or you could simply ask to talk with him and share your feelings. Either way your relationship is going to

change. Your relationship will either evolve into a partnership or it may sizzle somewhat until both of you deal with your feelings and decide where your relationship is going. He may have been hurt when you rejected him once upon a time and is unaware of your change of heart. Love means taking chances and the only way I see this progressing is if you take the chance and let him know how you are feeling. Please do let us know how this unfolds. Good luck Rose-Marie, we look forward to hearing from you. • • •
