APPOINTMENTS Appointments New Chair appointed at expanding telecoms
group JT JT Group has today announced that one of the UK’s leading technologists, Phil Male, has succeeded John Stares as its Chair. After graduating from Imperial College, Mr Male was a founding director of digital
publishing pioneer Computer Newspaper Services and went on to work for The Press Association helping to launch Teletext and many other electronic media brands. He became involved in the start-up of Demon Internet, one of the world’s first commercial Internet Services Providers, ultimately becoming its Technical Director and finally merging it with Scottish Telecom. In 1999 Mr Male was one of the three founding directors that floated the combined business on the London Stock Exchange as THUS Plc.

When THUS was acquired by Cable&Wireless Worldwide, he was appointed Group Operations Director and then Chief Strategy Officer, managing the separation and subsequent flotation of Worldwide. Mr Male left Cable&Wireless in 2010 to become Chief Executive Officer of UK2 Group, a global provider of Internet hosting services.

With over 20 years experience in the IT industry particularly with thin client and desktop VDI solutions, Andrew Gee joins IGEL from Teradici – the PC over IP protocol technology vendor – where he was Director for EMEA. Prior to this, he was European Business Development Director at Samsung – a consultancy role where he worked on defining their cloud strategy. Andrew Gee has also held senior management positions at Wyse Technology where he was VP for UK, driving the sales organization through to point of acquisition by Dell.
