It takes some time to walk the entire Cool Center at Frankfurt Airport (FRA), a facility operated by Lufthansa Cargo that was recently expanded

continues to hold the title of largest hub for temperature- sensitive air cargo consignments of any airline in Europe. In March, the German

carrier invited members of the media to tour the facility to showcase its substantial upgraded project that was only just completed. The airline now has access to some 26,246 square feet for cool chain cargo at its home hub, and the carrier was anxious to show off all of it. The center provides

Lufthansa officials particularly emphasized that the center offers customers a guarantee of precise temperature control, exclusive handling, short transfer distances and specially trained employees. This way, they said, Lufthansa Cargo can ensure highest requirements in the cool-chain logistics are met round-the-clock, with its Cool/td product. Jorg Bodenroder, senior

The company

offers high-quality transport containers, known as va- Q-tainers, that provide temperature-controlled solutions in six temperature ranges between -70 to +25 degree Celsius in five sizes, and can hold up to two US pallets. They offer constant temperature control for several days, without using external any energy sources.
