Finders Keepers, Fine Line and now One Shot; who hasn’t heard of Mabel and if you haven’t, where have you been? She is the daughter of two music industry greats, Neneh Cherry and producer Cameron McVey, but didn’t enlist their help to start her career, opting instead to get friends to help her make a promo piece. In this interview Mabel, who is refreshingly honest and grounded, talks about her collaborations and how important they are, but sets out how it’s time for her to do things on her own, how fashion is important, but depends on her mood, why she doesn’t want to be a role model, but is happy if her music helps and unlike other media that said she is going to tattoo her debut album name on her ribs…Mabel tells me she’s already done so …on her neck!
