Events at St Mary’s Church, Bungay
BUngaY at War:the home Front. the Bungay Eventscom- mittee is planning an exhibition in october commemorating the centenary of the end of WW1 and exploring the effects of WW2 on the town and surround- ing area. it starts on the evening of
thursday 18th october with an introductory talk by general the Lord Dannatt gcB cBE mc DL, after which there will be a preview of the displays plus light refreshments for pre-booked visitors. the event continues into the
next week when there is no entry charge, although donations will be welcome towards funding future exhibitions. With many pictures of Bun-
gayans who fought in WW1 plus memorabilia of evacuees, pris-
oners of war, USaaF personnel and war-time life in Bungay dur- ing WW2, the event should evoke nostalgia for those who remember that time and a lesson in social history for those too young to be involved. more details and posters will
be available nearer the date but with the involvement of the Brit- ish Legion and the Bungay Sportsassociation as well as pri- vate individuals there should be something of interest to every- one in the town if anyone in the area has any-
thing from either of the two world wars that would add to the overall picture, please contact either Keith Parker on 01986 893133 or John Warnes on 01986 892855 to discuss the event.
