This annual event, organized by the Philadel- phia Beekeepers Guild, celebrates nine years and works to raise awareness about the importance of honey bees to the environment, the food supply and the economy, and to celebrate urban beekeeping and gardening. The three historic loca- ti ons will each host one day of the festi val, and off er visitors family- friendly acti viti es that include open hive demonstrati ons, honey extrac- ti ons, open hive talks, children’s ac- ti viti es, honey tasti ngs, mead tast- ings, sales from local beekeepers, bee-bearding demonstrati on and more. Seger Dog Park recently started a new initi ati ve called dogplog- ging . Dogplogging Phase 2 is an event. We have partnered with the Barrel House Restaurant at 6th & Bainbridge Streets to hold a dogplogging/Yappy Hour event there. We are inviti ng dog owners to come to the restaurant to pick up litt er bags and venture into the neighborhood to pick up litt er. The ti me is from 4 to 7 pm. There will be reduced prices for drinks and a porti on of the proceeds will be donated to Saved Me, a local dog shelter. Seger Dog Park is donati ng $1 for every fi lled litt er bag and Barrel House will match. Saved Me is setti ng up an adopti on site at the restaurant that evening. There will be prizes for the most fi lled bags of litt er and for the most unique litt er found. There will be a raffl e award.
