hAwkInGE SpItFIRES CLub this club is for the over 50's and we meet once a month on the second wednesday in hawkinge village hall. we have a variety of interesting speakers, music afternoons and outings during the year. visitors are welcome and the cost is £3.00 including tea and biscuits. EtChInGhILL RESIdEntS' ASSOCIAtIOn - FILm nIGht. we are showing 'hidden Figures' biography/drama/history (pg), on monday 17th. september, starring taraji p. henson, octavia spencer and Janelle monae. the film is based on the true story of a team of female african-american mathematicians who served a vital role in nasa during the early years of the u.s. space program. the women, known as 'human computers', quickly rose through the ranks of nasa alongside many of history's greatest minds specifically tasked with calculating the momentous launch of astronaut John glenn into orbit, and guaranteeing his safe return. doors open at 7 pm for a 7.30 pm start, the entrance fee of £5.00 includes, admission, refreshments and a lucky draw ticket. new and existing members are welcome.
