Hunt for flasher who knocked on window
A CCTV image has been released of a man police want to talk to after a flasher exposed himself in front of a child inMaidstone. Detectives believe this man may
have important information about the incident. A statement from Kent Police
said: “It is alleged a man exposed himself at the window of a prop- erty in Old Tovil Road, as a child was sitting alone in a room with the curtains open. “The offence is said to have taken
place at about 8.40pm on May 11 2018, after the suspect knocked on thewindowandwaved, in order to gain the victim’s attention.” Kent Police havemade a number
of enquiries since the incident, in- cluding visiting businesses and speaking to neighbours and local residents. The statement added: “Recent
checks for CCTV in the local area have also been carried out and de- tectives are now able to release an image of a man who they believe
may be able to assist with the in- vestigation.” Detective Inspector Ian Wadey
said: “Crimes of this nature are ex- tremely rare
inKent.However, this incident will no doubt have been very distressing for the young per- son and their family. “We are continuing to do all we
can to identify any potential sus- pects or witnesses who may have
important information. We are hopeful someonewill recognise the person in this image, which is an important line of enquiry.” Anyone with information is

Blaze at barn
FIVE fire engines and crews tack- led a mystery barn fire near Ul- combe in the early hours of July 2. They were sent to a farmbuild-
ing at Pye Corner at about 1.40am and spent more than three hours putting out the blaze. Foam was used to prevent the
flames spreading to adjoining structures. Therewere no reported injuries and the cause is not known.

THE Hazlitt Theatre in Maidstone cancelled amajor production on the same night asEnglandplayedin the World Cup semi-final. Tonight’s the Night choir show-
case of songs fromscreen and stage will go ahead in the autumn. The theatre said its proximity to
the town’s bar and restaurant area may have created too much distur- bance for performers and audience. A spokesman said: “We want to
give our choir every chance to pro- duce an excellent performance, so the show will be postponed until September.”

OAKWOOD Park Community Group has progressed plans to rein- state public access to playing fields. St Augustine Academy and Oak-
wood ParkGrammar School fenced off the area amid concerns about dogmess and security. The group has become a charity
and obtained lottery funding to pay for securitymeasures.
