Orange Water and Sewer Authority (OWASA), a progressive water utility providing water, wastewater and reclaimed water services to the Towns of Chapel Hill, Carrboro and to the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, seeks qualified candidates for the opportunity to lead and direct operations at the award-winning Mason Farm Wastewater Treatment Plant which is currently participating in the national Partnership for Clean Water initiative for optimization and continuous improvement.


Candidates should have three to five years’ experience modeling leadership behaviors, coaching mentoring and supervising in a Wastewater Treatment Plant or similar environment with an Associate’s degree or equivalent. Position requires the ability to obtain a North Carolina Water Pollution Control System Operators Certification Commission Grade IV and driver’s license issued by the State of North Carolina.


Successful candidate must meet and maintain requirements for a safety sensitive position (ability to wear a full-face respirator, pass HAZWOPER training, etc.) Physical requirements include the ability to frequently exert 10-25 pounds and occasionally 20-50 pounds.
