President Donald Trump claims he


may actually pardon Jack Johnson after 105 years — the first African-American world heavyweight boxing champion who was convicted in 1913 for driving his white girlfriend across state lines.


Trump said actor Sylvester Stallone


– who played the boxer Rocky in several hit movies — is urging Trump to pardon Johnson posthumously.


“Sylvester Stallone called me with


the story of heavyweight boxing champion Jack Johnson,” Trump tweeted. “His trials and tribulations were great, his life complex and controversial. Others have looked at this over the years, most thought it would be done, but yes, I am considering a Full Pardon!”


Trump has a penchant for lying and


making decisions on the fly without giving his White House advisors a heads up. Who knows if Trump is serious about pardoning

Memorial Day has long been known as a holiday to celebrate and honor America’s soldiers. It’s also the holiday that officially kicks off summer, which is celebrated with cookouts, picnics and fun in the sun. And, to some of our delight, it also represents the return of white shoes, pants and dresses. But did you know that Blacks were the first to celebrate the holiday? While it’s unclear if they were wearing white, we do know that recently freed slaves founded the holiday in 1865

into a business for the Spencer’s. “Whenever we would travel I would have to stop at the antique, collectible and auction places along the way. I would actually highlight the most out of the way places and William would just drive and listen to me get excited about a special item,” said Irish Spencer owner of Spencer’s Vintage and Fine Consignments.” I have been an avid collector of fine and hard to locate items. I love purchasing pieces that increase in value and become heirloom collectibles.”


The grand opening took place April 6th during the


kick off of the annual 1st Friday’s in downtown Greensboro. Spencer’s is located at 225 Summit Ave., Greensboro across from the Historical Museum and Veterans Memorial. “ I love this location. It’s in the Historic Forbis District of downtown which has taken on a life of excitement with the Lebaur Park, new construction and the impending Tanger Center,” said Spencer. “ We did a soft opening before the grand opening and the community as well as shoppers and consignment clients has been overwhelming. I have clients who find themselves downsizing and needing a place to consign their fine items.
