most frequented happy hours in the city? The bar went to its social media followers and asked them to tag their favorite graf- fi ti artists in an “open call to artists” in the area. The owners wanted the space to be representative of not just the current art scene & Philly community, but also somewhere that our frequenters would be psyched to go and enjoy. The bar received a ton of submissions from extremely talented art- ists, but Ali Williams was the clear standout. Her realistic approach to im- agery combined with an extremely creative and vi- brant use of color attracted the owners to her work immediately, and they knew she’d be perfect for the space. It was defi nitely a hands-on collaboration with her after she was chosen, and they created a concept that was rep- resentative not only of the space, but also of the ever-emerging art scene in Philly. The mural features diff erent gems highlight- ing how Graffi ti Bar is one of the best kept secrets in the city, and a lot of the bar’s frequenters call it a “hidden gem” on 13th

summer season with a weekend-long grand opening party in the heart of Center City. Changes for the 9,000 square foot outdoor pop-up garden will include fi ve exclusive beers and an exclusive cider brewed specially for Uptown guests, a new and expanded food menu, expanded bar service, and a new charity partner in Wigs and Wishes. Uptown also will also open earlier than ever before and stay open almost four more weeks this year. Uptown also shares an early events line-up and Sourias is proud to share that Up- town has been selected as the offi cial Beer Garden of Philly Beer Week by Philly Loves Beer. Director of Operations and Beer Director Alex Bokulich collaborated and brewed each of the cus- tomer beers with some of his favorite brewers. “In previous years, I worked with some of my favorite local breweries to get “spe- cial” beers that we collabo- rated on, and I went out to assist in brewing. Origi- nally the idea was to create something available no- where else, to set us apart from everybody else... but last year the three custom drafts worked out so well, that I decided we want to challenge our team even more and work on creating a fully custom list for the summer.”

Exact dates to be determined. We have engaged Home Studios to help re-fresh the space, which we are all truly excited about. This ren- ovation and menu reboot will be an ode to northern Italy where Jeff fell in love with the culture and the woman he would later marry, his wife Claudia. We will provide more info as we get closer to the refresh.” We will give you updates about Osteria when we get them!
