The HBCU Advocate Makerspace Conference at JCSU

The James B. Duke Memorial Library at Johnson C. Smith University partnered with Discovery Place Education Studio, Makerspace Charlotte and Apple to host a full-day conference. The conference gave Charlotte and particularly under-served West Side tech entrepreneurs the opportunity for hands-on experience with cutting-edge digital equipment and concepts. There were expert panel discussions with designers, makers, and hackers as well as hands-on breakout sessions featuring demonstrations of 3D printers, laser cutters and milling devices. Apple conducted workshops on Swift Coding for students. The event was open to educators, students, librarians, alumni, CMS teachers, and community members.

Anyone interested in having a makerspace on their campus should contact The HBCU Advocate at info@thehbcuadvocate.com. Photos courtesy of JCSU
