Lier pick The third parish li�er pickwas held on January 27,with themeeting place in the church car park. Cllr Smith offered to arrange transport to drop off the volunteers at various locations in the parish. Allotment latestAllotmentsmanager Jane Sawyer had sent a report. It stated that compost bin for the newly sub-divided plot had been ordered and delivered,with the invoice forwarded to the clerk. The majority of plot holders are keen compost makers – in addition to the parish council bins, several also have their own bins and have constructive compost bays. He suggested the appointment of a Linton Archivist to hold the information in a central point, to act as a point of reference and hopefully improve the stock.He suggested that David Sendleswas a suitable candidate, andwithmembers in agreement,Mr Sendleswas offered and accepted the position.A budget of £100 was set aside to cover any printing and expenses, and itwas also suggested thatMr Sendles give a presentation on the history of Linton at the annual parishmeeting. CCTV Cllr Carpenter had sought an estimate for a newCCTV systemand itwas for between £2,500 and £2,600. Itwas agreed this be placed on the agenda for the nextmeeting and, in themeantime, that further quotations be sought and sources of funding investigated.

Community report Communitywarden Liz Lova� updated on two car thefts, a theft of number plates and reminded residents to keep their sheds secure and remove tools fromvans overnight. Liz has been very busywithwelfare visits and also reported on two scamcalls, one from someone claiming to be fromCitizens Advice and the other fromthe government advising of hidden bank charges. Borough report Cllr Sue Grigg reported that the Forstal Lane planning application had been approved, but that street furniturewould be put in place tomake it difficult to go downWell Street fromthe newestate. She hadmetwith the Kent Police and Crime Commissionerwho confirmed his commitment to PCSOs. Issues had also been raised about street lights and parking inMcAlpine Crescent and overgrown trees in Carmans Close, which Cllr Griggwas investigating the ownership of. Scout group Loose Swiss Scout Group had asked about a possible donation towards theirwork at Swiss Valley. Itwas agreed to ask the Responsible Finance Officer if there were funds, and if theywere, tomake an agreement via round robin of the amount of the donation. Quiet Lane Cllr Grigg had started the process forWell Street and Busbridge Lane to receive “quiet lane” status. Adverts The council decided not to allowa banner in the KGVPF car park or items on the parish council noticeboards to be used for advertising. School parking Itwas agreed to arrange a meetingwith the school regarding inconsiderate parking in the village at the start of the school day. Conservation areaA request had been made to extend the conservation area, but the commi�eewere unable to do this.

Privacy requestMembers raised no objection to a plan to add a two-storey extension to the back of The Co�age, in the High Street.However, they agreed to recommendMBC should instruct that the developer that the gablewindowin the bathroombe fi�edwith obscure glass. Demolition Councillors raised no objection to plans to demolish a single storey rear extension at 3 Gladstone Villas,Albion Road, and build a part one- and two-storey replacement. Crime Therewas the theft of a dog, two trees stolen fromthe front of a property, the theft of Yeoman gates and a burglary with items stolen. Youth shelter Cllr Boswell reported that the installation of a youth shelter had been deferred until the ground had dried out so that vehicles could access the sitemore easily. KALC KentAssociation for Local Councils (KALC) is staging governance conference on February 8which the clerkwas due to a�end. CllrManningtonwas due to a�end the KALC area commi�eemeeting on February 5. Donations The parish council sent donations of £100 each to theHeart of Kent Hospice and theHospice in theWeald.
