BLISS (OR EMILY POST IS DEAD!) Clytemnestra and Medea are pill-addicted, 1960s housewives and

Antigone is the teenage girl next door who is in love with a black boy. As many a proper housewife of the era, Emily Post, the American author famous for writing on etiquette, drives the women’s ideologies as they attempt to follow the “rules” of conventional society. All such rules of convention are thrown into chaos when Cassandra, a black working girl cursed with the “gift” of prophecy, moves into their neighborhood. The aforementioned “gift” is bestowed on her by Apollo, a gorgeous and egotistical god who has made the gift a curse, by making it so no one would ever believe her prophecies. To break the curse all she has to do is convince someone to believe her. Can Cassandra convince them they now have a choice in this modern era? That they don’t have to live a doomed existence? Can all four women escape their ongoing fate? The Moxie Theatre at 6663 El Cajon Boulevard, presents, BLISS (or Emily Post is Dead!), by Jami Brandli, fromSunday, January 28 through Sunday, February 25, with a special lesbian outreach eventonFriday, February 2.
