SOMETHING’S NEW IN THE VALLEY! PINKIE IN THE DESERT FUN TIMES FOR ALL!
Happy Decemberto all you wonderful, amazing
people out there! I’m Pinkie Meringue Shimmer, your new Queen of the Desert, here to fill you in on all that’s festive in the Coachella Valley! The holiday season is here and it’s my absolute
favorite time of the year. Admittedly, it can be hard to get into the holiday spirit when it’s in the 90’s in Palm Springs, but I guess we just have to try a little harder. My partner Kevin and I will be heading to be with my family the week of Christmas and Saturday, December 16 is my parents 50th wedding anniversary, so we’ve got many festivities to plan along with a party for them…I’m so excited. There are so many holiday happening going on in
the Coachella Valley, here’s just a few I recommend. Take some time onSaturday, December 2 to
enjoy the annual Festival of Lights Parade in Downtown Palm Springs. A good holiday parade always helps get you in the spirit and then of course, you can head to Arenas Road for spirits at your favorite watering hole after the parade passes by. Don’t forget about Retro Room on Tahquitz Canyon Road, right next to another Palm Springs’ favorite, Oscar’s!
psfestivaloflights.com OnSunday, December 3 you can take the Palm Springs Aerial Tramway up to see the winter wonderland as they light their annual Christmas tree. It’s the world’s largest tram car...And it rotates on the way up! Take the two-and-one-half mile, ten-minute spin on this Valley institution, over the

breathtaking cliffs of Chino Canyon. Enjoy the pristine wilderness of the Mt. San Jacinto State Park, but don’t forget to bring a jacket and drink some hot
chocolate...it’s frigid at the top!
pstramway.com Thursday, December 7, take the
annualPalm Springs Walk of the Inns. It’s a self-guided walking tour of Palm
Springs’ most unique boutique hotels and historic inns: From Mid-Century masterpieces to valley historical landmarks and all the inn’s in the Tennis Club district of Palm Springs. It’s a wonderful tradition and an opportunity to enjoy beautiful lights and decorations…and maybe a hot toddy or some holiday wine and spirits.

The Palm Springs Gay Men’s Chorus’s holiday concert, Joyful Traditions is an absolute “must do,” Friday, December 15 through Sunday, December 17at the Annenberg Theatre inside the Palm Springs Art Museum. It’s a festive collection of “All that is glorious with family and friends during the holidays.” Imagine the melodic notes of “O’ Come All Ye Faithful” and “Silent Night,” while rejoicing with “The Hallelujah Chorus,” as you remember the
warmth of Grandma’s fruitcake, those fab aluminum Christmas trees and funky holiday sweaters. Since 1988 the PSGMC has been working together to build a community chorus that reaches across boundaries with music in the hopes of building
bridges.psgmc.com The Great American Trailer Park Christmas Musical is taking place Friday, December 8 through Sunday, December 17 at the beautiful Indio Performing Arts Center. “It’s holiday time down in Armadillo Acres (North Florida’s premier mobile-living community) and everyone’s filled with warmth and beer. But when a freak bout of amnesia strikes the trailer park, Scrooge’s neigh- borly love is put to the test. Be on hand as Betty, Lin, and Pickles ‘jingle all the way’ with some new neighbors in this all-new, all-trailer-park musical!” For tickets and more information, call 760.980.1455 or go to
dtworks.org. Okay kids, as you can see there are tons of festive
events to take part in, so get out there, have a hot toddy, indulge in some fun and spread that holiday cheer! Remember too, it’s all about helping your fellow man. Sometimes something as simple as a smile can change the day of a person you pass on the sidewalk. Always do what you can, when you can to help others. Remember how blessed you are and give a little back!
