ABP launches 50-acre Immingham development
ABP is planning a major warehouse and industrial development at Imm-Port, a 50 acre site at Kings Road close to the Port of Immingham purchased recently from the Brocklesby Estate. Following receipt of planning permission for B1 (Light Industrial), B2 (General Industrial) & B8 (Warehouse & Distribution) uses and with financial assistance from the Humber LEP’s Business Loan Fund, initial intention was to develop the site on a piecemeal basis, but ABP later agreed to buy the whole area. PPH Commercial has been
appointed as agents for the sale or lease of the 10 units, which will total 900,000sq ſt. and range in size from 20,000sq ſt. to 475,000sq ſt. ABP will also consider plot disposals.
Free trade zones
In the piece: ‘Free trade zones could work for post-Brexit UK’, FBJ referred to Crowe Clark Whitehill as a law firm. Crowe Clark is in fact
an accountancy, audit tax and advisory
company. We
apologise for any confusion caused.
PPH Commercial divisional
director, Duncan Willey, said: “This is the largest site to be sold in the area this year. It’s a strategic site, located close to the UK’s largest port with good road access to the A180 and M180. It will help to meet the pent up demand for industrial units, possibly office accommodation and haulage related uses in the area.” He said that with port traffic
increasing, there is currently a lack of quality accommodation off the port estate. Construction work is due to begin early next year and although the site will mainly provide accommodation for port- related users, there will also be space for warehouse, distribution, service and manufacturing industries, he added. Chair of the Humber LEP, Lord
Haskins, added: “As a promoter of the Humber Enterprise Zone, we are sure once the build phase is completed, the incentives provided by Enterprise Zone status will allow Immingham Port to attract new business to the area and contribute greatly to driving growth of the Humber Economy for the benefit of our communities.”

Neufahrn will also handle international cargo and is expected to accelerate general cargo traffic to consignors in southern Germany and provide faster routing and
DFDS to buy Dutch special transport specialist
DFDS has acquired Netherlands logistics company Alphatrans. The Danish-owned shipping and logistics company said it would add new countries to its network along with its expertise in special transport. DFDS will acquire all the
shares in the Dutch Group following an agreement signed with owner, Martin Bos, who will continue to manage the business. Alphatrans specialises in the
transport of long, wide, high and heavy loads and has 197 employees and a fleet of 720 trailers and 125 trucks. It is also one of the largest flatbed trailer operators serving mainland
Europe, the UK and Ireland, with offices in the Netherlands, Belgium, Germany, the UK and Ireland and furthermore in Hungary, Romania and Portugal where DFDS is not represented. Executive vice president and
head of DFDS’ logistics division, Eddie Green, said: “Alphatrans is a perfect match for DFDS. It is a very well operated company with a good customer base and a strong and good reputation. It will reinforce our special transport business and enable us to offer our customers transport to and from new countries. This is in line with DFDS’ strategy of extending
better value to customers across southern Europe. Consignors in Austria, Italy and Spain will also benefit from a more direct connection, with transit time expected to be shortened by a day on average. Palletways Germany has at

provide will opportunities for “market synergies in the UK, Ireland and mainland Europe.
least 20 network members in the Bavarian region who will no longer need to travel to the central hub for collections and deliveries. Seven network members are already connected directly to Neufahrn, with more expected to follow soon.
And with Alphatrans’ transport operations to and from the UK, we will be able to further develop our network in the UK- Continent trade to the benefit of our customers.”
