’TIS THE SEASON FOR PARTIES & PANTOMIMES!

Victoria Brown www.victoria-brown.com

Can you believe Christmas is practically here?

Not to scare anyone reading this editorial, but there are not many weekends left before the big cheery man, with little round belly that shakes when he laughs like a bowl full of jelly, comes squeezing down the chimney. With this in mind, there are so many stories flying around about Santa and his elves, all obviously true! To those children who maybe reading this, I’ll tell you a secret … I believe! I hope you do too … because he’s watching! The thing I love most about Christmas, is the storytelling. I love hearing stories about Santa. Oh and I love a good party too … have you checked out our Christmas Party guide? If not, you must.

Throughout the guide you’ll find different options that will inspire a family fun filled time. In many families it can be hard finding something that everyone enjoys doing, especially if you have a large age gap between children, but our guide to theatre performances and Christmas parties is definitely something that everyone can enjoy together. Plus, theatre can also be used as an educational tool, but obviously add the fun element to it. Your children will be covering all kinds of storytelling in school, there are obviously different levels for each year and it becomes more intense as children progress, however, using the theatre to show how stories can be told through script and performance is an excellent way to educate your children on storytelling methods. Most theatre performances are

taken from books, for example, this year & early next, local theatres are performing, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, Cinderella, Piniocchio, Oliver!, Sinbad and Jack and The Beanstalk.

Whatever stage your child is at, these are both great books to read before such performances, you can see how the dialogue changes, how they enhance the story for entertainment purposes. If you look through our party guide, we’re sure you can find something that will enhance this experience.

In our Christmas party guide, you’ll see that our soft play & adventure play advertisers all run Christmas Parties in the lead up to the big day. You could grab yourself a coffee while the kids release some excited steam. You’ll also find party companies in this

guide offering indoor and outdoor bouncy castles, discos, face painting, magicians & balloon modelling plus arts & crafts parties. There’s a Fancy Dress shop too if you want to buy costumes and accessories for a party that you are going to! And, most importantly … don’t forget to cut out and keep this guide so you can refer to it throughout 2018 too. It is also available to view on our website all year round – www.primarytimes.net/teesside

If you are making a booking be sure to let the company know that you’ve heard about them from Primary Times!

A Merry Christmas & a Happy New Year to you all!
