Offside
A football team’s pink and orange sausage-themed kit is cooking up a storm.
Amateur club Bedale AFC, who compete in the Harrogate and District Football League, are sponsored by Heck sausages, which has a
factory nearby in Sinderby, North Yorkshire.
Their bangers and clash strip has gained notoriety on internet football sites. It has even been tipped to win the “wurst kit of the season” award.
Chairman Martyn Coombs admits when the local company’s marketing team came up with the “interesting design” for their kit they were a bit taken aback. “As an amateur football club, we rely on the generosity of local businesses to sponsor us; health and fitness, you can appreciate, is paramount.”
In the past, the team have been sponsored by Hall’s Fish & Chips of Bedale, R & R Ice Cream of Leeming Bar and now Heck Sausages. Yep, that should do it!
This pic from 1963 shows Paul McCartney, John Lennon and Ringo Starr apparently ‘mowing down’ George Harrison.
It was all hands to the pump when Hurricane Irma slammed into the Caribbean islands and Florida, leaving behind it a trail of devastation and destruction.
In Miami, the clearance effort was helped by Sister Margaret Ann of Archbishop Coleman F. Carroll High School, who pitched in by cutting trees to clear the neighbourhood roadways.
Now, anyone who has felt a nun’s wimple will know how that it would offer some protection from the neck up, but the lovely Sister really should get into the habit of wearing full personal protective equipment!
Back then, the length of The Beatles hair was a major talking point; ruffians, scallywags, yobs and disrespectful were some of the criticisms levelled at them.
Let’s hope they boxed it off - a lock of John Lennon’s hair recently sold at auction for $10,000 earlier this year!
When Cycling Weekly published a picture of a blonde Hinckley Cycling Race Club member alongside the caption “token attractive woman” in a recent issue, it led to a flurry of complaints from readers.
Knowing just how a magazine is put together, we are not surprised by the oversight by CW, and just thankful that, in twelve years of publishing Pitchcare, none of our ‘memory joggers’ have ever made it to press... Not yet, anyway!
