Attend ASCA’s September Webinars on Peer Review, Cyber Security ASCA will offer two webinars this month: “Update on Implementing an Effective and Meaningful Peer Review Program” on Tuesday, September 12, and “Cyber Security Issues for ASCs” on Tuesday, September 26. Both webi- nars will be held at 1:00 pm ET. Bruce Ettinger, MD, ASCA Board
Member, former Medicare surveyor and current ASC consultant of Ettinger Health Services Consulting, will lead the first webinar. He will discuss the components of a successful peer review program, provide examples of process failures that lead to citations for regula- tory noncompliance, examine the rela- tionship of peer review to quality-based reimbursement and offer a critical over- view of the legal implications of corpo- rate liability and negligent credentialing in ASC peer review.
Gerald Nussbaum, director of technology services at ECG Man- agement Consultants, will present the second webinar. He will discuss how the wealth of information health care providers maintain on their sys- tems makes them a target for cyber attacks; examine the threats cyber criminals pose to your ASC; share concrete, actionable steps you can take to improve your cybersecurity and explain what you should do if a breach occurs in your ASC.
