Royal patron attends graduation ceremony


PRINCESSEugenie ofYork visited Maidstone to take part in the Euro- pean School of Osteopathy’s Grad- uation Ceremony. The ceremony was held at All


Saint’s Church on the banks of the River Medway on July 7. According to ESO, it was “a truly international occasion” with stu- dents from 12 countries represented and family members flying in from across the globe. Itwas also the first official engage-


ment undertaken by the Princess since shewas appointed as RoyalPa- tron to the ESO in April. After presenting the awards, Princess Eugenie, pictured, spoke to graduates about their studies and their plans for the future. ESO Principal Charles Bruford

SEVERAL roads in Maidstonewere closed after scaffolding collapsed at a house in Mote Road. Engineerswere working through


the night after a gas pipewas found to have been ruptured by the col- lapse at shortly after 4.45pm on Monday, July 18. Earlier road closures affecting

that arrived in Gatland Lane were issued with a formal notice to move by 3pm on Monday, July 18. How- ever, the next morning they were still there. Borough councillor Matt Boughton said he was happy that the notice for eviction had been served and had hoped the trav- ellers would respect this and leave, but a court orderwas now the next course of action.
