Conference here in Columbus. If they’re attending, what current operational challenges are they seeking answers to? Te overwhelming majority indicated they seek strategies to overcome or at least lessen school bus driver shortages, while student behavior, driver and attendant training, and improved communication with parents all rank high on their wish lists. We received 338 total responses to the overall survey with about 15 percent of those indicating they planned to partici- pate in this week’s industry events. Ten the New York City terrorist attack happened. School bus security is certainly at the front and center of industry discussions as student transporters share their fears that school buses could be used in an attack or otherwise tar- geted, the latter being the case on Oct. 31 after the suspect struck and killed eight bicyclists and injured 11 more.
