NASSAU PARADISE ISLAND
Take the stress out of wedding planning with a sunny ceremony in Nassau Paradise Island – and that’s the honeymoon sorted too
Love island F
ancy an elegant ‘I do’ in an 18th-century
mansion, or in exquisite gardens inspired by the Palace of Versailles? How about a sand-between- the-toes ceremony surrounded by family and friends, or a tiny, intimate affair beside a gently flowing waterfall? When couples picture a
wedding in the Caribbean, they’re probably expecting to run hand-in-hand along a white-sand beach, with nothing but sparkling cyan water in the background. The secluded beaches
and blue skies of Nassau Paradise Island can certainly tick those boxes, but there’s a lot more to getting married here than just a good view. With many hotels offering venues to suit any size of

ceremony, and experienced wedding planners to help the couple craft their perfect day, there’s no need for all the worry that comes with a wedding in the UK. There are no tricky legal hurdles to get over either, as couples need only be in The Bahamas for 24 hours before they can apply for a licence, and
with direct flights from the UK to Nassau, and countless connections through the US, it’s easy for friends and family to join them for the big day. So with all the
practicalities taken care of, the only thing left to consider is which gorgeous venue to go for.
The red tape
Getting married in Nassau Paradise Island couldn’t be easier. Non-Bahamians must prove that they have been in The Bahamas at least 24 hours before they can apply in person for a marriage licence from the Registrar General in downtown Nassau. After completion of the application process, the marriage licence can be issued the same day or next day, depending on circumstances. It costs around $120, is valid for 90 days, and includes a certified copy of the marriage certificate.
Atlantis Paradise Island Brides can be hard to please, but with 20 ceremony venues – from the secluded sands of Paradise Beach to the elaborate decadence of the Royal Deck – this mega- resort is bound to keep that inner ‘bridezilla’ at bay. Size is on its side when it
comes to drinks and dining too, with 21 restaurants, 19 bars and lounges, an 18-hole golf course and a casino, so couples can squeeze every ounce of enjoyment out of their honeymoon. This is a good option for
couples with kids – among its array of family facilities is the 20-million-gallon waterpark Aquaventure, plus endless activities – and it suits bigger wedding parties as guests can stay in different accommodation across the resort while still getting together for the big day.
One&Only Ocean Club If it’s classy enough for James Bond – who filmed Casino Royale at this Paradise Island resort – you know it’s an elegant spot to tie the knot. Luckily you don’t need the physique of 007 or one
