Brighten Up A Pool With Fairlocks’ New PAR56 Replacement
Fairlocks Pool Products have just launched their new replacement for the PAR56 pool lamp.
The LED revolution has started so everyone owning a pool wants their lighting replaced by more efficient and energy saving LED options, but the problem has been how to change the look without compromising the light output. The good old PAR56, which has been the norm for many, many years, has now been given a makeover. Fairlocks along with Water-Tec have re-designed the lighting look using the WT4-LED lamp. The beauty of this replacement is the appearance as the WT4 is fitted with a backing plate so will fit any PAR56 niche. Waterco Launches New, Superior Pool Water Filter Media
International swimming pool and water treatment specialist Waterco Europe Ltd has extended its recently launched EnviroPro range with the launch of a new generation of superior pool water filter media, Waterco Glass Beads.
Manufactured from 100% virgin glass,
Waterco’s Glass Beads offer much finer filtration than other alternatives and are therefore capable of providing outstanding water purity and clarity (filtration below 3 microns). They also require 20% less water for backwashing compared to sand. “Whereas other filter media may contain different contaminants – Waterco’s Glass Beads are manufactured from 100% virgin glass and are chemically inert for the ultimate water purity,” says Waterco Europe director, Tony Fisher, adding: “In fact, Waterco’s Glass Beads have been independently lab tested for leaching contaminants and found to be well within Australian Drinking Water Guidelines.” At only 0.6mm by 0.8mm in size, the narrow particle size of the Glass Beads enables in-depth superior filtration. The
spherical shape also results in low friction levels, also reducing the need to backwash and saving pool owners both time and precious water. Not only that, Glass Beads are
safe to handle and safe to service, explains Fisher: “Unlike crushed glass, Glass Beads are perfectly spherical in shape, making them really safe to use; and if there’s ever a failure of the filter’s laterals and glass beads flow into the swimming pool, they pose no risk of injury to swimmers.”
Glass beads are also easy to install, enabling a rapid start up of the media filter. Plus its high purity means very little backwashing is required to cleanse the filter media prior to commissioning the filter.

Golden Coast Launches Pooltest 9 Bluetooth
Testing against the nine most important pool and spa parameters, Golden Coast gave the Pooltest 9 Bluetooth from Palintest its UK debut at February’s SPATEX. The water quality testing device was specially developed to help those managing pools and spas generate accurate results every time – regardless of their experience. In addition, the device is Bluetooth enabled, making water testing more connective than ever before.

technology. This capability allows for the device to communicate wirelessly with a range of smartphones and tablets.
In practice, this means that users will be able to set and share locations – wherever they may be. In addition, kits include USB cables – as standard – that can be used downloading data in a CSV format – or even as an alternative power source.
Powered by battery or mains, the Pooltest 9 Bluetooth is fully waterproof, allowing for testing anywhere it’s needed – and at any time. A benchtop version for permanent
installation at pools or spas is also available.
