Our latest ‘So You Think You Can Style?’ Contest was a close one, but one hairdresser’s summery style stood out: Jag Moussa of The Ginger Group in Calgary is our Beachy Hair winner! As part of his prize, Jag’s image was featured in the November+December 2014 issue of Salon Magazine.


Moussa created this plaited hairstyle by mixing rope braids, three- strand braids and curls, all which were placed and pulled to play with texture and volume. “Most of the work was done by hand and the products I used were hairspray and volume powder. The curls were put in with a flat iron,” he said.


Moussa says he wanted to enter the contest to keep current, challenge himself and—most importantly— have fun. “This competition allowed me to …put on my photographer/art director hat and try something new.”


He says he would encourage younger stylists to experiment with their style and open themselves up the possibilities of the beauty industry. “Competing in competitions allows my point of view to be seen by industry professionals with the hopes of inspiring them.”
