was located in the small dining area to the rear of the restaurant. The local post office was housed near the window by the end of the bar. In transforming the building

from general store to restaurant in 1980, the building exterior remained much the same; and inside, wood was added to set the mood. The original carved support posts were refurbished, as were the deep-welled windows. The solid pine store counter, with its sprinkling of old squared nail heads, was salvaged for the present-day bar. The restaurant includes a great,

casual, pub with live entertainment every Friday. Small cover charges apply, depending on the band; or, if you dine in, the charge is waived. They offer steak and seafood in the dining room, and a more casual menu is also available in the pub, as well as dinner specials on the Friday nights. They have a wide selection of

domestic and imported beers on the menu, and the food has consistently received rave reviews. Hours: Monday, Tuesday –

closed; Wednesday through Friday, 5–9 p.m.; Saturday, 4–10 p.m.; Sunday, 4–9 p.m. You can visit their website at

www.calamity.janes.ca to have a look at the menu, or to check out their upcoming entertainment. They are also on Faceboook. You can find them at 8092

County Rd 29, Addison (just north of Brockville). Not too far if you want to just hop in the car or on the bike for a tour. You’ll be glad you did.
