“Over the past year, Royal Westmoreland resort on Barbados has outperformed the market, having sold 10 new villas at an average price of 1.29 million, plus numerous resales on the estate”

MIKE’S IDEAL BARBADOS DAY

I usually rise early to go down to the local fi sh market to buy something for lunch or dinner. The fi sh is unbelievably cheap, and literally straight out of the sea that morning. I play golf as often as I can, and always prefer an early tee-off to avoid the midday sun. If you choose to play an afternoon round, then you can get some excellent rum punch (and it is called punch for a reason), among other cocktails, in the clubhouse afterwards.

I also love to read and catch some sun before it gets too hot, then head down to the Forest Hills pool, where it is usually very quiet, and have a good 20-to-30-minute swim. If we don’t fancy cooking lunch, we go to the clubhouse, which serves a great menu, including delicious burgers.

In the afternoon, we may go to the Westmoreland Beach Club at Mullins or to Folkestone Marine Reserve to snorkel. And in the evening, if we don’t fancy going out to a restaurant we will go for a drink at Westmoreland’s own Rum Shack. Their wonderful fi sh cakes help to absorb some of the alcohol.

WHERE WE LIKE TO EAT Tides for fi ne dining; Churrasco do Brazil serves a

great South American-style buffet; Lobster Alive is a simple seafront restaurant that serves some of the fi nest lobster you are likely to taste; Champers is great if you fancy a posh lunch and maybe a glass of bubbly – well situated to give fantastic views out to sea.

WHERE WE LIKE TO GO Harrison’s Cave: fantastic caves

containing some of the most spectacular stalactite and stalagmite formations anywhere. Cool Runnings: a catamaran cruise that takes you round the island’s coastline to some
