Come Early, Stay Late at Peekskill's 6th Annual Jazz & Blues Festival
On Saturday, July 21, from 1-10pm, downtown Peekskill will turn into a stroller’s paradise as streets are closed to traffic for Peekskill’s 6th Annual Jazz & Blues Festival. Presented by the Peekskill Business Improvement District (BID), a full day of free musical performances, outdoor dining, artisanal crafts and family activities will grace the intersection of Central Avenue and North Division Street, in historic Downtown Peekskill. The Peekskill Farmers Market will also be open throughout the day.
The day starts with a Jazz & Blues Brunch from 1-4pm, where festival goers can enjoy some of the best local music at restaurants and cafes around town. Then at 4pm, the line-up of Main Stage musical performances are: Nation Beat, an American/Brazilian collective that plays a mash- up inspired by Brazilian Maracatu drumming, New Orleans second line rhythms and funk and country-blues; Marc Cary, who was hailed by Down Beat as one of "the most multi-dimensional keyboard players on the scene today," with his critically-acclaimed Focus Trio; the irresistible jazz-tinged funk and R&B of Lakecia Benjamin & Soul Squad; and the Masters of Latin Jazz, featuring the multi-Grammy®-nominated Bobby Sanabria & Ascensión.
