JUNETEENTH FESTIVAL BRINGS NEW FOCUS TO HEALTHY LIFESTYLES

The White Plains Juneteenth Heritage Committee (JHC) will be celebrating its annual Juneteenth event a little differently this year. The core of the celebration remains the same—a commemoration of the end of slavery in the United States; however, instead of its annual parade, the daylong June 9 event will have a new theme: “Healthy Living, Healthy Lifestyle.”

The day’s event will kick-off on the fields of Eastview Middle School with a unique, first-of-its-kind event: The Mayor’s 2k Walk, a healthy living initiative championed and presented by White Plains Mayor Thomas Roach.


The event will demonstrate to its


attendees that taking a proactive approach to diet and behavior can be life-changing and fun at the same time. The day will continue with health-oriented activities, lectures and demonstrations.
