Through MTLA, stay current on critical issues facing plaintiff attorneys, leverage the experience of our members who pool their knowledge and resources to help each other succeed and gain a voice in Annapolis.


Amicus Curiae The Amicus Committee and MTLA members participate in important cases at the appellate level for the benefit of MTLA members and your clients.


Case Evaluation and Strategy Clinic The clinics give an in-depth, confidential review of your specific, pending cases. The panelists discuss theories of liability, damages, negotiations and trial strategies, experts, witness preparation and discovery procedures.


Committees Committees shape MTLA activities. Committees include publications, diversity, fundraising, membership recruitment and retention and technology.


Community Outreach MTLA works in conjunction with the Maryland Safe Kids Campaign to raise funds to educate on safety issues and provide bike helmets and smoke alarms to Maryland families.


Defense Experts Database The Defense Experts Database provides information on defense expert witnesses in Maryland, including doctor’s name, defense attorney’s name and law firm who named the doctor, date of any video depositions or trial appearances, financial information and plaintiff attorney’s name.


Deposition Bank Members have access to TrialSmith, the largest online deposition bank for plaintiff attorneys, with over 300,000 depositions, expert leads, trial testimony of experts, verdict settlement data and more, 24 hours a day.


Document Bank MTLA hosts a document bank, located in the CourtDocs section of TrialSmith, providing access to complaints, interrogatories, motions, briefs, orders and other documents, which saves hours of research.


E-clips E-clips is a free daily email that highlights top legal news in one concise email. E-clips news is extracted daily from national periodicals and websites.


Educational Programs MTLA sponsors educational programs, seminars, and dinners to sharpen your skills and keep you up-to-date with practical and substantive developments in your area of practice and legislation affecting your clients and practice.

Legislative/Political Representation MTLA works to preserve the civil justice system and fights to strengthen consumers’ rights and their access to the courts. MTLA monitors legislation, develops strategies, and presents our position to legislators and policy makers by lobbying and providing expert testimony before committees on bills that will affect your clients’ legal rights.


Listservs These online networks give you immediate access to the knowledge and experience of hundreds of MTLA members via email. Members ask questions, discuss case strategies, and save hours of research by sharing information and documents without leaving the office or picking up the phone.


Meeting Space Need a place to convene in Baltimore for client meetings, depositions, or other business? MTLA’s conference room is available and free to members. Call to reserve the space.


Membership Directory The MTLA Membership Directory lists all current members and helps you locate peers across the state.


Mentor/Mentee Program Mentees are assigned to an experienced practitioner. Mentors give advice on establishing a successful law practice and guidance when issues arise concerning a specific case. Mentees may accompany their mentors to depositions, court appearances and trials.


Networking Opportunities Network with some of Maryland’s most successful attorneys through involvement in committees, sections, seminars, membership meetings and social activities.


Publications Stay current on Maryland and national law when you receive the quarterly Trial Reporter, monthly BLAST e-newsletter and daily e-clips.
