Psophonia Dance Company presents their newest children’s show, Puerta de Imaginación. Continuing to creatively examine Hispanic cul- ture, the performance showcases works depicting Mexican Independence Day, Aztec myths and legends and famous figures in Mexican history. Psophonia is known for its unique style of transform- ing everyday objects through whimsical imagery. Striving to educate and entertain, the show will excite every child’s imagination. October 2 The 2011 Dance Council Honors


Each year five outstanding individuals are selected by the Dance Council of North Texas to receive the annual Dance Council Honors. Celebrating the excellence of the careers and contributions by the recipients, DCNT spotlights the diverse roles these individ- uals play to enhance and advance the art of dance. DCNT is proud to announce that Revathi Satyu receives the Mary McLarry Bywaters Award for Lifetime Contribution to Dance. Michael Serrecchia is awarded the Natalie Skelton Award for Artistic Excellence. Danny Curry is bestowed the Mary Warner Award for Service to Dance. The Larry White Dance Educator Award is presented to Dorothy “Dottie” Williams Hunt Kleeb. And, Gene Pflug is named a Texas Tap Legend. DCNT Honors includes a gala showcase of selected 2011 DCNT Scholarship recipients and the exciting Dallas Black Dance Theatre. October 2, 2011 at 2:30 pm at Dallas Black Dance Theatre, 2700 Flora Street, Dallas, TX 75201. $35 for adults, $25 for DCNT members, and $20 for students under the age of 16. Ticket price includes complementary reception. Proceeds benefit the Dance Council of North Texas and its celebrated Scholarship Program.
