rounding states. This focus will also provide resources to many horse enthusiasts who participate in diverse disciplines. Texas H.O.R.S.E. is asking the Texas Legislature to give Texans the chance to vote to allow slot ma- chines / gaming at all currently licensed Texas racetracks. Doing so will enrich all aspects of the Texas horse industry, and the de- pendent industries of real estate, tourism, and the wide spectrum of rural economy tied to farm development. The race horse indus-

try will benefit from revenues that will bolster purses and fund breed incentives through their breed organizations while the Performance Horse Devel- opment Fund, or PHDF, will dedicate funds to the many non- racing horse organizations and events in Texas. AQHA, APHA, NCHA will use revenue to en- hance, create and support Texas based programs and services that are not affiliated with rac- ing. An allocation to the Texas

Department of Agriculture will be administered to support other non-racing incentives for events, disciplines and organizations in the State of Texas. Texas horse owners can look forward to trail improvements, recreational riding opportunities, incentive funds and expanded competition purses making Texas once again a destination for national and world championship events and shows.

The legislative efforts

of Texas HORSE received a ma- jor boost this past October when the Texas Veterinary Medical Association (TVMA) passed a resolution promulgated by TVMA’s Equine Practice Com- mittee to support the Texas Agri Industry by backing legislation promulgated by Texas HORSE. Win for Texas is the

public arm of the campaign to get the Texas Legislature to let the people of Texas vote to add slot machines to exist- ing licensed Texas Racetracks. Win for Texas states Texans
