Meet Tim &

C

ollectors Tim and Katy first met at the University of Utah. The surgeon and the nurse practitioner allowed fate to step in and have been enjoying their lives together since. As life would have it, fate not only brought them together but also brought them to the other love of their lives – art.

The Utah residents first came across Exclusive Collections Gallery by chance. In town for a Critical Care Society conference in San Diego, the pair was taking a stroll through the Historic Gaslamp quarter. Tim was recovering from a torn muscle in his calf and had been advised to walk.

Their leisurely stroll brought them past ECG where a recently completed Michael Flohr piece stopped them in their tracks. “My senses were just assaulted by it,” Tim said. “It was a beautiful work.”

Not ones to act on the spur of the moment, the pair decided to think about buying it. The impression left on them by the “Tribute to Bravery” piece brought them back to the gallery the next day, only to discover the piece had been sold an hour after their prior departure.

COLLECTOR PROFILE

This impression could not be ignored, so they commissioned a piece similar to the one that caught their attention, but on a much grander scale. Four years have passed since their first visit and the couple no longer has any wall space for new art pieces. Among their collection are works by artists Michael

Flohr, Henry Asencio, Royo, Tuan, and a few by none other than Tim himself.

The fruitful relationship formed by Tim and Katy and ECG goes beyond collectors and consultants as they see ECG as an extended family. “We treasure the experience and the people at the gallery,” Tim said. “I’m a big believer in fate. If we would have never gone to that meeting, we would have never found the gallery.”
