Manufacturers have been further guided by the impact of water and energy efficiency legislation, leading to a surge of new products being developed to meet the changing needs of electricians which in turn supports wholesalers to secure sales and retain a solid profit margin.


A year of opportunity for electrical wholesalers


The stabilising of the economy, rise in new builds and improvement in consumer confidence all helped 2014 to be a more positive year for wholesalers and manufacturers. With more building projects on the horizon, and manufacturers investing in new product development, Redring's Strategic Marketing Director Steve Holton takes a look at the year ahead and the opportunities that might be in store for wholesalers.

espite recent difficult trading conditions and several years of a turbulent economy, it seems there


are plenty of reasons for consumer and business confidence to return. Not only has unemployment fallen, but house prices are rising and the economic conditions continue to show signs of stabilising. For the building and construction trade, including electrical wholesalers that supply electrical equipment and products for building projects, this is no doubt welcome news. Supporting this improved outlook, a wealth of organisations and trade bodies have also recognised this return to a more prosperous building trade. For example, the Construction Products


Association (CPA) has forecast that the construction industry will grow 23% by the end of 2018, with a growth of 5.3% predicted for the year ahead. In addition, the CPA’s most recent Construction Trade Survey reported that construction firms are seeing increased orders and enquiries, which suggests a positive increase in activity for 2015.
