ABOUT BRIAN R. BIRKE Brian R. Birke is a member of the Intellectual Property, Commercial Law, Litigation and Appellate practice groups at Adler Pollock & Sheehan P.C., resident in the Boston, Massachusetts, office. Mr. Birke’s practice focuses on such matters as trade secrets, shareholder disputes, corporate control, fiduciary claims, investor protection, consumer finance and unfair and deceptive trade practices. He frequently is called upon for general business counseling as well as to counsel on cross-border insolvency and attachment proceedings and to defend trustees, securities issuers and transfer agents against the execution of judgments against foreign sovereigns and their nationals. Mr. Birke assists clients in a diverse range of industries, including aviation; technology; biotechnology; venture capital; finance; REITs; manufacturing and retail; real estate development and insurance.

Mr. Birke’s practice also includes routinely advising clients on risk management and mitigation and associated dispute resolution strategies. Previously, he served as a public affairs counselor in Washington, D.C. for multinational corporations and foreign governments. That experience allows him to provide clients with proven internal and external communication strategies to control corporate messaging during the litigation lifecycle.


Mr. Birke has been recognized by his peers as a Super Lawyers® Rising Star every year eligible since 2007. He currently is a Vice Chair for the City Year Legal Community Leadership Committee. He is active in the Financial Services, Intellectual Property, and Litigation Sections of the Boston Bar Association, and is a past member of the Boston Bar Association Task Force on Work-Life Balance.


Mr. Birke also is a contributing author to the American Bar Association publication Brownfields: A Comprehensive Guide to Redeveloping Contaminated Property [3rd Edition], as well as a frequent writer on intellectual property remedies and unfair and deceptive trade practices.


Mr. Birke graduated from University of Rhode Island and received his law degree from Northeastern University School of Law.
