Ultrafast UV laser technology coupled with a high-speed scanner- based beam displacement system has the potential to revolutionize laser micromachining applications. UV lasers with short focal length optics allow for micron-level spot size while the high speed and acceleration capability of the scanner can execute multiple passes over the material extremely quickly. Utilizing this capability to its fullest potential requires a scanner with micron-level accuracy at the work point. Aerotech’s AGV-HP is the first commercially available scanner capable of micron-level accuracy over a relatively large area (40 x 40 mm). This working area can be greatly extended with Aerotech’s Infinite Field of View (IFOV) technology. Key operating parameters for the scanner are outlined below.
