SHARPSHOOTER ///

world, as every day I get a new experience in a new place and interact with new people.

First shooting job? My very first shooting effort was for MTV. It was the Sirasa Super Star Season 02 reality show. It was a show where we went in search of the best singers in Sri Lanka, and I did that program with much enthusiasm. We worked day and night and hardly stopped.

Current equipment you use? I currently use Sony PMW-EX3, PMW-EX1R, HVR-Z1P, HVR-Z7P, DXC-D55, DSR-450P, plus the Canon EOS 1DC, EOS 5D Mark2/3, EOS 60D, and EOS 7D cameras. I often use a RED ONE, RED EPIC and Blackmagic Design Cinema cameras.

Other gear you have access to? Other equipment that I sometimes use are two panel light LEDs and Sony LCD

monitors, as well as some specialist lenses and filters for special purposes.

Dullest assignment and why? There was a Tamil director who came to Sri Lanka to shoot a film and he chose me to be the main cameraman in that film. At the first shooting itself there was a hot argument between the Director and me, where he told me that what was more important to him was not the scenes but the dialogue and did not allow me even to light the shoot. So, at the first shooting, I handed over to my assistant cameraman and came home.

Hairiest and scariest assignment and why? When I was filming a motorbike stunt in 2007, the bike came very fast and hit my right side chest and threw me over and was unconscious for a long time, but I did not let the camera slip even though I was

unconscious. My chest still pains when a motorbike comes towards me. I love to shoot stunt work and like to take a risk in filming from uncommon angles.

How much 16:9 do you shoot? All my shoots are 16:9.

Which is your favourite place to shoot in? Kandy, Nuwara Eliya, Badulla and Jaffna in Sri Lanka and all the Asian countries.

Equipment “Wish List”? A Sekonic L-758DR cine exposure meter and many
