TJ Corp. (Austin, TX) is a small pre- cision manufacturing company that is having good success in using CAM to develop manufacturing processes to machine replacement wing fl ap tracks for the US Air Force’s 40 year-old, C-5 transport plane. Within recent months, the company has submitted fi rst ar- ticles and the required certifi ed process documentation for three versions of the fl ap tracks. Two of them have been approved and approval is expected on the third confi guration. These approv- als will make ETJ one of four or fi ve companies that have been approved to manufacture these deceptively simple- looking parts.
