Not NSF Scientific Grant Proposal, but a five page proposal as described in Educational Project Request section.

1. Letter of Intent

Regardless of the size of the project, the Principal Investigator (PI) is encouraged to submit a Letter of Intent (LOI) early in the project planning stage. The LOI will allow NSF and the LAOF facility providers to address long-term project and facility needs. Once a LOI is submitted, the project will be included in the LAOF long-term project planning schedule. Notification will allow staff from the LAOF partner organizations to participate early on in the planning process and provide valuable advice and guidance if needed. The following information should be included in a LOI:

 Project name and acronym  Name(s) of Principal Investigator(s)  A short summary of the scientific goals of the project  Project location  Start and end dates of the field campaign  Facilities, instruments, and expendables to be requested  Name of the NSF Program Officer
