SPLASHING OUT IN SWEDEN
The new Swedish branch has made a splash at several of the country’s popular whisky festivals with a rather fi ne mobile Society bar. Branch manager Patrik Axelsson was joined by
The Vaults’ Annabel Meikle for the Stockholm Beer and Whisky Festival, which took place across two weekends at the end of September and start of October. In November, the team was at the Örebro Beer & Whisky Festival, adding to Sweden’s growing Society buzz.

PRODUCTION Classic tasting AUSTRIA
Two unique products brought together in perfect harmony: malt whisky and Rolls- Royce cars. That was the thinking when the Society in Austria chose the world’s largest Rolls-Royce museum in Dornbirn as a memorable new venue for a tasting. The members enjoyed a range of Society drams surrounded by exquisite cars, once owned by the likes of Hollywood legend Rita Hayworth, the Prince of Wales King Edward VIII and Lawrence of Arabia.
The Society’s husband-and-wife team Thomas and Jutta Unterguggenberger (pictured) hosted the event. Thomas said: “The Rolls-Royce museum was a special place for us to hold our tasting, especially as we featured Cask No. 41.44 ‘Dailuaine’, a very noble 25-year-old dram, which suited the venue perfectly. Thomas is working on ideas for future tasting events, including a cruise on the Wörthersee, one of the most beautiful lakes in Austria, and a whisky tasting and hiking tour in the Waldviertel forests.
