Laing O’Rourke Centre for Systems Engineering & Innovation
SYSTEMS ENGINEERING & INNOVATION 2 YEAR PART-TIME MASTERS PROGRAMME
- This new course focuses on the novel systems and systems concepts that will impact on the industry in the next decade. Run at Imperial by the Laing O’Rourke Centre in Systems Engineering & Innovation it draws on the full resources of the Imperial College Faculty of Engineering, the largest in Europe. The Course MSc thesis is developed in conjunction with Imperial College Business School, majoring on the management of innovation that will be essential if systems are to meet their full potential in the built environment.
- The course begins with systems analysis techniques, and systems design methods, and then applies these approaches to smart grids and national and regional energy systems, data systems, system optimization technology, and nuclear systems. It offers full exposure to state of the art in new systems technologies such as logistics planning, urban energy systems, GPS surveying, signal recovery and system resilience.
- The course is intended to stretch students to the full. It is particularly suited to those who already have professional expertise in their fi eld, whether design, construction or facilities management and are now planning to become innovation champions within their organizations. As a minimum, applicants should have an Upper Second Class Honours degree in Civil, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or a related discipline from a UK university (or overseas equivalent).
