Wayne and Norma Botkin
Wayne grew up in Denver—Illinois, that is. From their small farm community, Wayne and his brother drove the family’s only car to their classes at Carthage, ten miles away. Shortly thereafter, Wayne found himself half a world away, serving in the U.S. Navy in the South Pacific during World War II.
After the war, Wayne completed an M.B.A. and undertook a long career with the General Electric Company. It was at the head office that he met Norma. Settling in Phoenix, they raised four sons. Acting on their beliefs in God, family, and education, they became community builders across all the years of their lives. Wayne’s charitable gift annuity continues to support Carthage athletics.
