White balance (WB) is, in essence, the control you


have over the final colour cast of images taken with your camera. Our brains are clever enough to auto-adjust what our eyes see in order for it to appear neutrally colour- balanced. Camera film or a sensor works in a different way, though through processing can mimic this human process. Auto White Balance (AWB)’ is the camera’s way of assessing a scene, and while it often performs well to produce a well colour- balanced final image, it can occasionally be a benefit to dig into the other WB settings.
