LETTERS FROM FRIENDSHIP BAPTIST CHURCH YOUTH


My experience at the state capital was defi nitely life changing. I learned more there than I would on a regular school day. I saw and experienced things kids my age can’t and don’t do. That day I was able to stand in front of a Senate meeting and see how everything works on a day-to-day basis. I was able to meet the state senator from Monterey and many other senators. I was also able to meet the acting lieutenant governor and talk to her. She gave me a few encouraging words. I almost met the governor himself but he wasn’t in that day, so I just went into his offi ce. This was one of those experiences I will never forget. I am blessed that I was able to do what I did and see what I saw. Thank you NCGA Foundation for everything you have done and still do for the Friendship Baptist Church kids. –April McMillan

Going to the Senate fl oor with the FGA and the NCGA was an awesome experience. I enjoyed meeting Senator Calderon and the acting lieutenant governor. It made me feel very special. I even got to speak on the senate fl oor. It was a great day. –CJ Garrett
